Fidelity JB Light Aged Surf Green

The JB introduces a subtly different voice to the Fidelity range. Designed and built in the UK by Matt Oram, it retains the brand’s core approach to materials, resonance and detail, while shifting the feel toward a more familiar 24.75″ scale format — one that will feel instantly at home to players used to classic set-neck designs.

This example features a chambered roasted Canadian ash body finished in Surf Green, with a German carve along the top edge adding definition without excess. Light-to-medium ageing softens the finish, while the clean, uncluttered layout keeps the focus on shape and proportion.

A pair of Mojo Pickups Firebird pickups provide a clear and articulate voice with plenty of bite and focus. Controlled via a traditional 3-way toggle, the addition of a series switch introduces a thicker, more driven tonal option when needed — expanding the guitar’s range without complicating the interface. It’s a simple, highly usable setup that rewards time with the instrument.

The roasted flame maple neck, paired with a wenge fretboard and finished in oil, feels immediate and natural. A medium-to-chunky “C” profile, combined with the 24.75″ scale length and compound 9.5″–14″ radius, offers a slightly softer, more elastic feel under the fingers compared to the rest of the range — a subtle but important shift in character. The premium look is topped off with a painted headstock.

Hardware is consistent with Fidelity’s no-compromise approach. A billet aluminium bridge with modified brass saddles pairs with a Descendant vibrato, mounted via a custom plate for smooth, expressive movement. Gotoh Magnum Lock tuners with Waverly-style buttons complete a setup that is both stable and visually in keeping with the guitar’s aesthetic.

Supplied with a padded BOSS gig bag and strung with Stringjoy Signature 10–48s, the JB offers a slightly different route into the Fidelity world — familiar in feel, but unmistakable in execution.
