Ivison Dakota Standard NOS Heather Poly Mist

Another seriously cool Dakota Standard from Neil Ivison, this time finished in NOS metallic Heather Poly Mist – a wonderfully subtle early-60s US automotive colour that looks completely at home on the Dakota.

While we’re used to seeing Neil’s guitars with his beautifully judged ageing, the NOS treatment gives this one a different character, with only the authentic lacquer checking hinting that it’s a guitar with history. The soft metallic Heather Mist works brilliantly against the Dakota’s unmistakable 60s-inspired lines.

Underneath the colour it’s a tried and trusted Dakota Standard formula: korina construction, ’59 profile neck, Indian rosewood fingerboard and simple Faber compensated wraparound bridge. A pair of Ivison’s own hand-wound Freebird pickups provide the tones – vintage Firebird-inspired, with plenty of clarity, snap and articulation while retaining enough body to make the Dakota a remarkably versatile guitar.

A great example of what Neil does so well: unmistakably rooted in the golden era, but very much an Ivison rather than a recreation of something that already exists.
